According to Cuyahoga County officials, the stabbing occurred on a Monday afternoon outside a Giant Eagle store in North Olmsted. Julian was stabbed twice, and his mother sustained a stab wound to her shoulder.

Despite efforts by paramedics to save him, Julian passed away after being transported to a nearby hospital.

A Cuyahoga County grand jury indicted Ellis on several charges, including two counts of murder, attempted murder, aggravated murder, endangering children, tampering with evidence, aggravated theft, and two counts of felonious assault, according to court records. Currently, Ellis is in jail with a bond set at $1 million.

Allegations suggest that Ellis stole two knives from a thrift shop adjacent to a Giant Eagle grocery store.

Reportedly, Ellis observed 3-year-old Julian and his mother exiting the grocery store with the stolen knives. Following them, Ellis allegedly approached the mother and son and launched a vicious attack.

According to reports, Bionca stabbed the young child while he was seated inside a shopping cart, and then assaulted Julian’s mother when she attempted to intervene.


New Video Shows Moments Before Fatal Stabbing of 3-Year-Old Boy

Newly released surveillance footage sheds light on the moments preceding the tragic attack in North Olmsted. Bionca Ellis, the suspect, was seen at the police station before the incident. Later, she was spotted inside a nearby Giant Eagle store, wielding a knife.

Around 2:30 p.m., Ellis visited the North Olmsted Police Department in connection with a previous arrest for theft. She was released just four days before the incident despite being taken into custody.

Leaving the police station, She was seen exiting a thrift store, where she allegedly stole two knives, before heading to Giant Eagle. At 2:58 p.m., she was observed in the store with a knife, unnoticed by staff.

Upon leaving, Ellis followed Margot Wood and her 3-year-old son, Julian, through the parking lot, where she launched a violent attack on the pair.

At approximately 2:58 p.m., surveillance cameras inside the store recorded Ellis walking past the service desk, holding a knife. Unnoticed by others, she encountered Margot Wood and her 3-year-old son Julian as they left the store.
